Private Jack HALLETT, Machine Gun Corps, 119th Company (Infantry), service no. 85420. Killed in action in France/Flanders on 23 Nov 1917, aged 32. Born at Freemantle, Hants. Enlisted at Southampton. Husband of Edith Mary HALLETT of 'Cambrai', 40 Sandford Rd, Aldershot. Grave/memorial: Cambrai Memorial, panel 12 & 13.

Jack Hallett was the son of John and Laura Hallett of Red Hill in Bassett. In 1901, aged 16, Jack was working as a groom. His father was a gardener. His younger brother Harold was also killed in the war and is commemorated at the Shrine.
